Leisure time

What about the countryside? Sweden is a sparsely populated country. There are only 21 inhabitants per square kilometre, compared with 372 in the Netherlands and 238 in the U.K. East Sweden can offer unspoiled countryside as well as good opportunities for development and tailor-made solutions for living and working.

What is "Allemansrätten" ? It is the Right of Public Access, unique to Sweden. It gives everyone free access to forest, land or water to pick flowers, mushrooms and berries.

What is there to visit in the East Sweden countryside? Each part of the province has a lot to offer: The bird life of Lake Tåkern, famous for hosting a wide range of breeding birds. Omberg offers very rich flora, ancient ruins of castles and the preserved ruin of Alvastra monastery. Kolmården has deep forests with remarkable fauna and Europe's biggest zoological park. You can also enjoy the Blue coastline and the archipelago with peaceful environments, lovely islands and small harbours.

Countryside, is that all there is? Both Linköping and Norrköping are among the country's ten largest towns with all that implies for culture, entertainment and service.

And sports? The region contains many forests, lakes and rivers suitable for fishing, sailing and canoeing. Hunting is also a common activity. Golf enthusiasts will find many courses to choose from. If you prefer to watch there are football, basketball, volleyball and ice-hockey teams of class to look at.
