Air
Both Linköping and Norrköping have airports conveniently located near the city centres. There are regular flights to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Visby (Gotland).
Stockholm's international airport and Denmark's main international airport in Copenhagen have recently been extended. This means that capacity is among the highest in Europe. Both airports are hubs in SAS's traffic system. SAS is the joint airline for the Scandinavian countries and the dominant carrier in the Nordic region.

Sea
The Baltic Sea is the busiest inland sea in the world with approximately 35 million passenger crossings every year. Norrköping has a modern deep harbour and extensive export and import operations.
Oxelösund is a large port which is mainly used for imports of coal and export of products from SSAB's steelworks, but also has regular ferry services to Poland. Further north is Nynäshamn which is the base for service to and from Gotland.
Railway
East Sweden is centrally located for train services to the rest of Sweden as well as Denmark and the European continent. The main line Stockholm-Malmö, passes through the region. The high-speed train, X2000, makes the journey between East Sweden and Malmö in three hours. It takes less than two hours to travel to Stockholm.
Road
Sweden has a well developed network of freeways that meet high international standards. Highways E4 and E22 cross the region to the west and south coasts, respectively. From there, car and train ferries depart for the European continent and the U.K. Furthermore, the bridge over Öresund provides Sweden with an overland link with the European continent.
Local transports
When it comes to travelling within East Sweden, there is an efficient local rail network from north to south, with frequent trains, especially during rush-hour traffic. The region also has an extensive bus network. This enhances the mobility of the East Sweden work force.
IT and telecommunications infrastructure
East Sweden has an excellent IT and telecommunications infrastructure, providing fast, safe and reliable transmissions. The whole region, like the rest of Sweden, invests heavily in broadband. The municipalities of East Sweden have united their efforts when it comes to IT and telecommunications strategies. All the largest operators are present in the region and 9 municipalities out of 13 have fibre networks.
